- Living 1876.
Received by letter into the Buckatunna Baptist Church from Bethel. This Bethel Church may have been in upper part of Washington Co., AL, which became Choctaw Co. in 1847. Another possibility is Bethel Church in Welch, Chambers Co., AL. Was still in the Buckatunna Church in 1848 when he was excluded for unknown reason. Could have been non- attendance. By 1850 restored and received a letter of dismission in June 1856. Sarah, his wife, was granted a letter of dismission from Buckatunna in May 1844.
1850 Jasper Co., MS, Census: A Naomi Waid, 19 yrs, b. AL, living in home. Page 31, Family 17.
Enlisted in Confederate Army at Hinton (Scott Mountain area of Choctaw Co.), AL, on 5/13/1861. Served in the 13th Miss. Regiment and was discharged at Quitman, Clarke Co., MS. His wife, Sarah, apparently had died during the war, for he married Louisa M. Carrol in Clarke Co., MS, on 10/16/1866. Louisa M. Carroll Buckalew applied for a Confederate pension in Clarke Co, MS, (on William's service) on 4 Sep 1900. She was 69 years old at the time, being born about 1831.
